Before the pandemic, Oxnard PAL hosted annual Thanksgiving dinners at all city-operated youth center participants. In 2020, staff had to find an alternative to the dinners. Staff came up with the idea for the distribution and it has been a success since. By distributing turkeys instead of offering a meal the day before to the youth participants, Oxnard PAL helps bring families together and feeds many more people in our community. Since 2020 Oxnard PAL has partnered with various businesses, organizations, and individuals to distribute 500 turkeys between the three locations.     

 

Families must pre-register for a turkey at Oxnard PAL, Oxnard PAL @ Southwinds, or Colonia Youth Center. We ask that only those living near Oxnard PAL @ Southwinds, and Colonia Youth Center sign up at those locations and everyone else register at the main Oxnard PAL chapter. All registrations are done in person and TURKEYS MUST BE PICKED UP THE DAY OF DISTRIBUTION. Any turkeys that are not picked up are distributed to families waiting on the day of distribution.​​
